15 charged in Kasur child abuse case, charge sheet presented in court

LAHORE: (Dunya News) – 15 have been charged in Kasur child abuse video case on Tuesday and the charge sheet has been presented before Anti-Terror Court (ATC), reported Dunya News.
The 100-page charge sheet has declared 15 as culprits in the case. According to the charge sheet, 239 kids were abused in Kasur. The culprits also blackmailed the kids and their families to extort money.

Background of the case

Kasur scandal came to the fore during the month of August when the residents of the area protested against the police and the local legislator of the area. The issue was picked up by the media and the government of Punjab was forced to take action against the culprits.
Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif had to visit the place himself. He assured the victims of the case of his assistance and directed the police to help the victims and do whatever it takes to arrest the culprits. CM said that the Kasur scandal was a brutal act and said that stern action would be taken against those involved in the heinous crime. CM had also said that it was now his responsibility to look into the matter.
There was outrage expressed throughout the country against the brutal crime. Jamaat Islami chief Sirajul Haq, Opposition leader in Punjab Assembly Mehmoodur Rasheed and Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) Jehan Ara Wattoo visited the village where the incident took place and assured complete support to the survivors and their families.
Sirajul Haq called for suspects to be tried in the military court comparing the abuse with the acts of terrorism.
Mehmoodur Rashid termed the incident a slap on faces of ‘claimants of good governance’. Another PTI leader Chaudhry Sarwar said police implicates the victim instead of helping them.
Meanwhile, PPP’s member Punjab Assembly Jehan Ara Wattoo said such cruelty with the children of the nation will not be tolerated.
Such was the outrage that shoe was hurled at IG Punjab when he visited the area in order to assure the victims of assistance.

CM Punjab also directed the police to help the victims identify the culprits. He also removed DPO Kasur in order to ensure transparency.

Chairman PTI Imran Khan s wife Reham Khan also visited Kasur. She accused the government of laxity and termed the Kasur incident as a failure of the rulers as laws are present in the country but are not being implemented.
However, the charge sheet has finally been presented before the ATC today.
